These testimonies tell of a Saviour who is the same yesterday, today and forever! I pray they will be an encouragement to you in your walk with our Lord Jesus Christ.
Pastor Keith’s story. Soon after becoming a Christian, there developed a group of like minded believers from churches in the area. We met regularly as a home group and studied the scriptures, worshiped together and prayed with each other as and when the need arose. Some time after we started the house group we were asked by the local vicar to hold a prayer meeting in church, to be seen as inclusive. This we did gladly.
The evening came and we set the chairs out between the choir stalls and the chancel rail. All the house group were there and three extras from church. The evening was to be a steep learning curve for me! As soon as we started praying, I heard the ‘still small voice’ (1 Kings 19:12) “Offer ministry!” This was unexpected! We were in church, the vicar was on holiday and I’d not asked him about prayer ministry. “No Lord” I said, “I’ve not asked the vicar!” For the whole hour, I said nothing as I struggled with the prompt to ‘offer prayer ministry’ as the Lord kept prompting, “Offer ministry”,… offer ministry!”
We were ready to say the grace when I felt an irresistible urge to offer the said ministry. To my horror, three people got up and went to kneel at the altar rail. You need to realise, I had not been a Christian very long; and listening to, and responding to the Lord’s requests was all new to me. I took a gulp and said in my heart, “Lord, it’s over to you, use me as a channel of Your grace.” I laid hands on the three individuals in turn and prayed very simple prayers in answer to their request. Afterwards, we all said the grace and left.
But that was not the end of the story! As I walked down the chancel steps to leave, the Holy Spirit ‘overshadowed’ me and I staggered into the first pew and knelt. The easiest way to describe what happened next is to say I felt the Lord thanked me for being obedient, a tangible pat on the back and a “Well done!” I knew, but I knew, God had moved. All worries dispelled, I had been obedient and I knew it, this is not to boast, but rather to give glory to the Lord for His care and love for us.
This too is not the end of the story. Two weeks later, one of the ladies I prayed for gave testimony that she’d has cystitis for twelve years, and from the moment I laid hands on her, she was healed.
Be encouraged, if God can use me He can use you for His purposes and His glory. All praise and glory to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
